Is America raunchier than Britain? Jennifer Lopez made two identical performances of her passable song “Live It Up,” one for the Billboard Awards and one for Britain’s Got Talent television show. She wore the same thigh-high boots and skintight bodysuit at both, which completely reveal her thighs, up to and excluding the crotch, and much of her butt as well. There were no complaints for her Billboard performance, nor even for Britain’s Got Talent, by the judges, but around 100 viewers from home formed complaints to Ofcom, the Brit equivalent of the FCC, saying that she was inappropriately dressed for a family show.
Ofcom says they have “received complaints, which are currently assessing but not investigating at the movement. If we consider the potential that the broadcasting code wasn’t abided by, there is the potential we would investigate,” a spokesman said, “but it’s too early to speculate.”
Tweets have also been rife with responses. Wrote one Twitter user, Deborah French, “Disgusting that Jennifer Lopez showed off quite so much on a family show. Sad,” and Maeve Connolly tweeted: “Wow, J Lo, if I’d wanted to see that much of you I’d have married you #bgt.”
The judges, for their part, gave a standing ovation, and Amanda Holden said, “J-Lo’s arse…I just want to bite it! It was fabulous.”
