Glee star Jane Lynch has made the somber admission that she and her wife Dr. Lara Embry are getting a divorce. They’ve been married since 2010. The two met at a fundraiser in 2009, at which point Embry was instantly enamored with Lynch.
“I said, ‘I want my picture taken with her,’” Embry told the New York Times of when she first laid eyes on Lynch. “I thought she was cute.”
They were married in 2010, and the wedding vows reflected Lynch’s affection for Embry’s two daughters, especially Haden, who lived with the couple. She claimed to cherish the role of stepmother, and even made wedding vows “to be the very best parent I can be,” and “to do my best to get her ‘iCarly’ tickets.” They were married in Sunderland, Massachusetts, lauding the state for accepting gay rights to marry. The ceremony was attended by 19 friends and family.
Nevertheless, in an exclusive announcement to People magazine, Lynch, 52, has announced that her marriage to Embry, 44, did not go as planned. “Lara and I have decided to end our marriage. This has been a difficult decision for us as we care deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter,” she said in a statement.
