Famous law firm Patton Boggs recently saw 17 partners depart. Overall, the firm has hired this year, and the inbound flow of talent remains strong. The firm is one of American Lawyer’s Top 100 US law firms. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., it has more than 600 lawyers and professionals in nine locations in the United States and the Middle East. Patton Boggs specializes in litigation, public policy, business, intellectual property, international and trade law with over 200 international clients from over 70 countries.
Firm spokesman Elliot Frieder said, “Recently a number of attorneys at the firm announced their intention to move on. These colleagues are our friends and we thank them for their service and wish them well in their new endeavors. Movements of this kind are a regular occurrence in an industry where the competitive environment has changed, and many leading firms are transitioning their work forces to compete more effectively. Although we regret partner departures, we, too, need to change to remain competitive. Patton Boggs has a sound underlying practice and a strong brand. We will continue to strengthen our firm through strategic hiring and acquisitions where they make sense.”
Washington based Patton partner Robert Luskin, who practices in white-collar defense, commented, “the firm is heading in the right direction.”
