The Atlanta office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP will be adding an additional member to its Entertainment and Music Practice Group. Stephen Weizenecker joins the group as its newest partner, following two additions to the corporate practice.
Jason Karlov, the chair of Barnes & Thornburg’s entertainment group, offered ample praise and enthusiasm over Weizenecker’s arrival. In a press release statement on behalf of the firm, he noted that “Steve’s addition to the team is a strategic component of the expansion of Barnes’ entertainment practice in the Southeast … Steve will be instrumental as we serve clients around the globe in the film, television, music, live events, and technology industries.”
Weizenecker marked the latest addition to a rapidly expanding Atlanta branch. Barnes & Thornburg opened its Southeast office in 2009 and recently added two attorneys to its corporate division, bringing the total number of lawyers up to 24.
Weizenecker brings extensive experience in entertainment and sports, promising to be a valuable contributor to the firm’s entertainment practice. He attended law school at Thomas Cooley Law School, earning his Bachelor’s degree from Emory University. He previously practiced at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith and was of counsel for Greenberg Traurig. Most recently, he was the managing partner of the Weizenecker Group.

Much of Weizenecker’s experience has focused on the business side of entertainment and sports, particularly in tax incentives, M&A, IP, and financing. In addition to his many clients in the television, film, and music industries, he has also done work representing technology and Fortune 500 companies in the areas of marketing and branding.
Weizenecker is currently the Editor-in-Chief for the American Bar Association’s Forum on Sports and Entertainment Industries, as well as a Chair for the State Bar of Georgia’s entertainment and sports division.
