Hogan Lovells Opens 44th Office and Expands into Brazil

Hogan Lovells received the Brazilian bar association’s approvals in Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro. The firm has opened in Rio de Janeiro. This will be their 44^th office. The new office will be a Foreign Legal Consultancy. They will be able to help companies entering into the Brazilian market as well as assist any clients doing business throughout Brazil and Latin America.

Hogan Lovells has represented companies in Latin America for almost twenty years. The firm clearly understands and knows the in and outs of the Brazilian civil law system. Having done business in the region for nearly two decades, they have connections and friendships that are meaningful in different arenas, from government to business to local counsel. Their legal team has experience and clear understanding of policies and practices of the region, and what the law both means and implies for both Brazilian and non-Brazilian clients.

Warren Gorrell, Co-CEO of Hogan Lovells commented on the expansion. “Given Hogan Lovells’ extensive history with local clients and the rate at which the Brazilian market is growing, establishing an office in Rio de Janeiro was both a natural and crucial next step for the firm.” Because the firm sees future strategic opportunities in energy and infrastructural development, this move seemed like a perfect move in the right direction.

A statement from Hogan Lovells commented on the expansion. The firm feels that the Rio de Janeiro office is the next logical step of the expansion into Latin America.
