Massachusetts Police Sgt. Sean Murphy has released new unseen photos of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The Boston bombing suspect is seen with blood pouring down his face between laser crosshairs.
Sgt. Murphy is a tactical photographer with that state police. He saw the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, which attempted to glamorize and sensationalize the suspect. The infamous magazine cover has been the subject of media outrage, and the magazine has been boycotted across the country. Murphy released the pictures in anger over the current Rolling Stone cover.
The pictures that were released show Dzhokhar Tsarnaev coming out of the boat that he hid in. His hands were in the air and he was smeared with blood. Sniper lasers targeted his head. Sgt. Murphy gave a statement to the Boston Magazine, “as a professional law-enforcement officer of 25 years, I believe that the image that was portrayed by Rolling Stone magazine was an insult to any person who has ever worn a uniform of color or any police organization or military branch, and the family members who have ever lost a loved one serving in the line of duty.”
The Boston Magazine has stated that a larger collection of photos will appear in a later issue. According to the Huffington Post, at this time Sgt. Sean Murphy, the state police photographer, has been relieved of duty and ordered not to speak to media. Many can understand the outrage the state police officer would have felt.
