It’s a boy! Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to her first child. She arrived at St. Mary’s Hospital yesterday morning as Prince William escorted her to the hospital by car, and the couple came into the hospital through a side entrance.
Happy well wishers, press, and fans had camped outside of the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, waiting for the arrival of the baby. In truth, some people had been there for several days, as the baby arrived slightly later than media speculations predicted, according to the Huffington Post.
They royal pregnancy was announced on December 2012, after which French tabloids repeatedly infringed on the privacy of Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton. At that point hundreds of baby rumors were spinning on different magazines, from the suggestion of twins to anything else. The day that Kate’s baby was announced to the world, Kate was hospitalized for extreme morning sickness, hyperemesis gravidarum. Doctors considered the illness very serious and thought that her entire pregnancy would be affected. However, over the course of her trimesters, Her Royal Highness Princess William was active and healthy. She held engagements at museums, schools, and was seen shopping, walking her dog, and at Starbucks.
The royal proclamation was posted outside of Westminster Abbey. London streets were filled with smiling people. According to the NY Daily News, the baby’s arrival was greeted noisily and with much fanfare. “May he be long-lived, happy and glorious and one day reign over us. God save the queen!” said town crier Tony Appleton as he shouted the news on the steps of St. Mary’s Hospital in West London, where Middleton, 31, had given birth.

Prince William And Kate Middleton welcomed a healthy baby boy. Born at 4:24 pm, London time, the baby weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces. He is third in line to the throne after his grandfather and father. Prince William commented on the joyous occasion of the birth of his first child, “We could not be happier.” The royal family issued a statement, “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in the hospital overnight.” Well wishers around the world now wait to find out what the couple will name the baby.
