Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a great weekend! As many of you know, I’ve been in Kansas City this week, but today my parents and I headed out to Colorado for a week of relaxation. I realize this is probably the last time that I’ll have stretches of unlimited vacation time, so I thought I should take advantage and head out to Colorado Springs one last time before I (hopefully) start life in the “real world.”

Driving from Kansas City, we have to cross the entire state of Kansas, and then a good bit of the flat section of Colorado to get to Colorado Springs. Although a lot of people think it must be flat and boring, I personally think it’s a really pretty drive. What can I say, I’m a Kansas and Missouri girl at heart.

My dad I headed out at 7:10am, hit up the Roasterie one last time, and then we were on the road!

We started up playing the license plate game, but got bored quickly. We also considered seeing how many different types of animals we saw on the side of the road (the nice way of saying road kill) but I thought that was just a bit morbid for the blog… We ended up listening to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (which I purchased online from Pottermore) and I was a happy camper!

We saw some of the biggest tires I’ve ever seen:

And this lovely antique “store” outside of Limon, CO:

I also tried out this Buffalo Jerkey that I bought at Natural Grocers in Kansas City and I really liked it!

No soy sauce too, which is hard to find. And yes, I love jerky. #noshame

We finally made it to Colorado Springs, and since my mom was an hour or so behind us, we thought we’d sit out on the driveway so she’d have a lovely greeting when she arrived. Yes, we try to keep it classy.

Now I’m already thinking about dinner… Love it here.

Do you take road trips very often?

What’s the longest drive you’ve made? (mine was 20 hours: Flagstaff, AZ to Kansas City!)

Have you ever driven across Kansas?
