Ben Affleck stars as the new Batman, following Christian Bale, George Clooney, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, and Adam West. Zack Snyder is returning to direct the as of now untitled film, but fans will be pleased to know that the DC Universe’s heroes- Batman and Superman are together and will share the big screen, according to Entertainment Weekly’s Inside Movies.
According to the press release announcement, this incarnation of the Batman legendary archetype will be “an entirely new incarnation of the character” and so Ben Affleck wont have to follow in any one particular actor’s footsteps. Zack Snyder also directed Man of Steel that grossed over $649 million worldwide. He feels that Affleck will portray a crime fighter who is scarred and not as gullible or youthfully naïve. He feels that the charming Bruce Wayne will be wonderfully portrayed. “I can’t wait to work with [Affleck] Zack Snyder said.
Warner Bros. executive Greg Silverman commented on the choice of Ben Affleck as Batman. “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduring popular super heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some.” Mr. Silverman went on to discuss Affleck’s outstanding career and how Affleck’s talent made him the obvious choice. He concluded by saying that director Zack Snyder working with Ben Affleck will take the character to another dimension.
