One of the year’s largest law firm mergers will be between Stinson Morrison Hecker, and another Midwest company, Leonard Street and Deinard, who intend to combine their services to become one of the top 75 largest firms in the U.S., with 525 attorneys in offices across 14 cities.
This decision was made after years of work together. For more than a decade they’ve shared a peer group in the Midwest, and decided that their objectives, strategies, and cultures so parallel one another that they would do well to combine their efforts into a shared venture.
That combined firm will be called Stinson Leonard Street LLP
The firms are calling it the biggest merger of 2013, and with Stinson bringing 321 attorneys and Leonard Street bringing 208, it will certainly be among the top.
“There is always a bit of sadness among partners when a name is dropped from the firm name,” said Hinderks. “But there was no battle at all about this. We very quickly got to the new name that we believe will be a good brand going forward.”
The venture will allow the firms to offer all necessary legal services in house, including corporate finance, real estate and construction, health law, and intellectual property.
Though Stinson was formed in 2002, Leonard Street is 91 years old.
