JAG Shaw Baker Is Launched as New Tech Firm in Europe

JAG Shaw Baker has recently announced itself as one of the first Tech Startup firms on the European scene, with a boutique firm founded by James Shaw and Tina Baker, highly experienced venture capital lawyers grounded in tech, life sciences, and clean tech. The firm will be dedicated to venture capital and advising entrepreneurs in high growth companies, and with the background Shaw and Baker are bringing, as well as the intense team they have accrued, they seem able to the task.

As James Shaw said in their press release, “Starting JAG Shaw Baker was a demand-driven decision. As entrepreneurship continued to flourish across Europe, we received increasing approaches for legal support. Our clients wanted a legal team with a deep understanding of the nuances of entrepreneurial businesses and venture capital deals. It became clear that it made sense to start a boutique firm focused solely on this market.”

Tina Baker added that “JAG Shaw Baker is passionate about great people and great businesses with disruptive ideas and technologies and in helping them operate on a global scale.”

“Our decision to start the firm illustrates the maturation of the European venture/growth capital ecosystem. We are very optimistic of its continued growth and have chosen a team of exceptional lawyers who are dedicated to and experienced in servicing this sector. We are so pleased to be attracting outstanding clients from the start, and believe our unique offering and capabilities will fuel our continued growth.”

Joining their team are Richard Penfold as Head of Intellectual Property practice, Susanna Stanfield as corporate Partner, and Morven Grieg as managing partner.

They claim their team will make intellectual property and technology rights “a cornerstone of their practice,” and so they are clearly situating themselves as a technology boutique, which might suggest something of what they expect in the European market in the near future.
