President’s Choice-Inez Tenenbaum Joins Nelson Mullins

Inez Tenenbaum has been President Barack Obama’s choice for leader of The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission since 2009. Tenenbaum has decided to join the law firm of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough effective December 1^st. She will work in the law firm’s Product Safety and Risk Prevention & Regulatory Practice Group. Within those areas she will be responsible for advising clients on risk assessment and management, regulatory oversight, product reporting, recalls and other litigation matters. Her expertise with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act will focus on certification requirements and product testing.

The CPSC had been without a chair for three years and once she was sworn in she took immediate leadership. She enforced safety laws and made sure consumers did not buy unsafe products. She has expanded the CPSC to include small businesses and foreign governments. She has also strengthened the important relationship between United States Customs and Border Protection, personally making certain that bad products don’t get even close to unsuspecting consumers.
