Two attorneys, Samuel Pond and Jerry Lehocky, have established a new trial advocacy scholarship at the Temple University Beasley School of Law. The attorneys were classmates at Beasley and now they are partners. This is their way to give back to the institution from where they received the learning they are using today to build successful careers.
Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano is allegedly the largest workers’ compensation and social security disability law firm in Philadelphia and the new trial advocacy scholarship will be known as the Pond and Lehocky Scholarship Fund in Trial Advocacy.
The award would be given once a year to a student with a focus on trial advocacy.
Explaining their reasons for establishing the scholarship, Pond said, “We share a bond of pride in having attended Temple Law … and we also share a debt of gratitude for what that education made possible.”
Lehocky confirmed that “gratitude is what prompted us to establish this scholarship. We are excited and honored to be able to provide this yearly award to a Temple Law student who understands and emphasizes the importance of trial advocacy.”
Pond and Lehocky met each other first in Beasley School of Law and developed a friendship. Later they faced each other as opposing counsel and developed a bond which transformed into their partnership. They founded their law firm in 2010 with Pond as managing partner. Today, they represent clients in all 50 states and in Puerto Rico.
As seasoned trial lawyers, the duo have always emphasized the importance of trial advocacy and their scholarship helps pass the torch to the younger generation. The first scholarship would be announced on November 14.
