Brouse McDowell , a leading Cleveland based law firm announced the hiring of two new partners, David E. Schweighoefer and Irving B. Sugerman, this week. David is joining the law firm as a partner in its Health Care Practice Group. Both David and Sugerman have more than three decades of practice in their respective practice areas.
David is joining as a partner in the Health Care Practice Group of the firm. He is leaving FrontLine Services Inc., where he served as outside general counsel. He counsels and represents numerous clients on regulatory and corporate compliance program development, patient rights, procedure development, and informed consent policies in health care.
Prior to joining a career of law, David served as a CEO in hospitals in Milwaukee and northeast Ohio.
David is currently an adjunct professor for his alma mater, Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He teaches the law of fraud and abuse at the law school along with conducting courses in health care law and the law related to psychiatry.
Before joining Brouse McDowell, Sugerman was the managing partner at a local law firm. Currently he is an adjunct professor of Negotiations at the University of Akron School of Law. Sugerman earned the award for John R. Quine Outstanding Professor in 2011 at the law school. He currently serves on the board of directors at Stewart’s Caring Place.
Sugerman also worked in supporting and helping his community, and had served as the president of the Shaw Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Community Board of Akron, and Ohio Jewish Communities.
