Firm Bryan Cave Elects its First Ever Female Chair

The 140-year old Law firm Therese Pritchard. Ms. Pritchard is a frequent speaker on securities law and enforcement matters at continuing legal education programs and she was named one of the Best Lawyers in America 2008-2011 by various publications, including the Washington Post, Washingtonian, Woodward/White, and Inc.’s 13th edition of The Best Lawyers in America. A Boston College graduate, Therese Pritchard also served for several years as the chair of the Securities Enforcement Subcommittee of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association.

Bryan Cave LLP is based outside of St. Louis. The Wall Street Journal reports that Therese Pritchard, who is based out of Washington D.C., will take over respective duties next October, after a short transition period working alongside the current chair Don Lents, 64, who has led the firm, Bryan Cave, since 2004. According to Biz Journals, Pritchard plans to remain based in Washington, but will spend considerable time in St. Louis.  Therese Pritchard, who joined the firm in 1999, will be the first woman to lead Bryan Cave LLP since its founding in 1873, and only the fourth woman to head one of the 50 largest U.S. law firms, Don Lents said, citing rankings by the American Lawyer magazine. Since 1999, the firm Bryan Cave LLC has grown and now totals 30 offices in the U.S. and now counts 1,100 lawyers abroad.
