Science Experiment Meant to Teach, Burns Dozens with Vapor Fascination

For many years, people have wondered how boiling hot  water thrown in the the air can vaporize with such an awesome effect. Some are curious enough to try this experiment without thinking of the consequences associated with the dangers of science.

With The U.S. experiencing what meteorologists are calling a “polar vortex,” most of the country has fallen into the lowest record breaking temperatures in 20 years. While some states experience this polar vortex more than others, the need for the scientific mind to experiment in this type of cold is great.

One such experiment is, throwing boiling hot water in the air and watching it vaporize and float away. It’s a cool site to see, but what people aren’t expecting is the vapor floating away and the wind blowing it in their  direction and getting burned. According to a Tweet by  Matt Pearce, a reporter for the Los Angeles Times, he said he’s “found about 50 victims, and continued to say i think we’ve all learned an important lesson today.”

This story has been shared on the internet thousands of times but people continue to try to beat the odds and try the experiment anyway. Tweets, Facebook comments and even YouTube videos of people getting burned have been posted. Some people take it in stride and laugh it off and some let people tell and show how burned they are, yet confirm how cool the experiment is.
