California and Nevada-based law firm Murchison & Cumming LLP has named Dan L. Longo as the new managing partner of the law firm, effective January 1, 2014. Besides assuming his new role and duties, Longo will continue to co-chair the law firm’s Health Law and Professional Liability practice groups.
Longo is a frequent lecturer and panelist for organizations like the Liability Insurance Research Bureau, California State Bar, PESI, the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants and the USLAW Network. He is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, the Professional Liability Defense Federation, the Orange County Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute.
Longo has been with Murchison & Cumming for the last 30 years and has served on the executive committee of the law firm for the past six years. Since founding of the firm until 2011, he was the partner-in-charge of the Orange County/Irvine office and since 2008, he has taken up many other management and leadership roles.
Speaking on the nomination of Longo as the new managing partner, the former managing partner Jean Lawler said, “Dan’s reputation for excellence, his proven leadership and strategic vision is sure to benefit our clients and to bring continued success to the firm. I am pleased that he has agreed to step into this role.”Lawler had served as a managing partner of the firm from 2008 through 2013 and will continue as a Senior Partner and Co-Chair of the firm’s International Law Practice Group.
Longo is a resident partner at Murchison’s Irvine office. He received his J.D. from the Loyola University School of Law, where he served as the President of the student bar association.
