First presented on February 21, 1952 at the 9th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony, The Cecil B. DeMille Award is an honorary Golden Globe Award bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.” Some past honorees to receive the award include Lucille Ball, Jack Nicholson and Martin Scorsese.
The 71st Golden Globes honored comedian, writer, actor, and director Woody Allen, whose career spans more than 50 years with the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award. The four-time Oscar winner, Woody Allen was not in attendance at the Golden Globes to accept his lifetime achievement award, so Allen’s friend Diane Keaton accepted the award on his behalf.
According to reports by the Huffington post, not everyone in attendance was happy to honor Woody Allen. Woody Allen became the subject of ridicule by Mia Farrow, who was his partner for 12 years, her son Ronan and others during the tribute. Ronan Farrow continued his mocking taking his campaign to the internet where according to US Magazine the 25 year old tweeted, “Missed the Woody Allen tribute — did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?”
Mia Farrow, 68, confided during an interview with Vanity Fair in 2013 that her son Ronan might really be the son of Frank Sinatra, rather than director Woody Allen.
