NBC Gets Ready for Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’ Takeover

Debuting next month, Jimmy Fallon‘s “Tonight” show will feel similar to people that love and appreciate his work. Fallon said he doesn’t expect to change his style of comedy tailoring because of an earlier time slot. “This show has completely changed from when I first started,” Fallon said of “Late Night,” which he’s hosted for five years. “I feel like we’ve blossomed into what will become the new ‘Tonight‘ show.

Fallon’s light-hearted comedy is believe to be a better transition, according to NBC executives who felt doomed when trying to replace Jay Leno the first time with Conan O’Brian.

February 6 Jay Leno finishes his 20 year run on the “Tonight ” show with guests Billy Crystal and Garth Brooks. On February 17, Fallon debuts a week’s worth of shows at midnight. The following week he will move back into the regular time slot.

Fallon is moving the “Tonight” show from the West Coast to New York but says he will take the show on the road for a couple of weeks a year.  The tonight show should be goofy and fun and make everyone laugh, that’s our job, Fallon said.

He appreciates showing different sides of celebrities by getting them involved in skits or games, like when Tom Cruise cracked two eggs on his head. Fallon also said he alerted New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s office ahead of time about his spoofs with Bruce Springsteen poking at the recent Christie traffic jam scandal. For job opportunities at NBC, click here.
