Washington D.C. based Arnold & Porter has opened its ninth office in Houston at the Bank of America Center. The new office of the law firm in downtown Bayou City will be led by Thad Demaris, the former managing partner of the Houston office of Hogan Lovells.
Tom Milch, the Chairman of Arnold & Porter said: “We see significant opportunities to build in Houston based on our existing strengths and our experience in the region. We are targeting growth of practices in Houston that help us continue to provide sophisticated service to clients, in the energy sector and elsewhere, in the most cost-effective way possible.”
Thad Dameris is bringing a team of highly competent litigators into the firm including Trevor Jefferies, Christopher Odell and David Weiner. The press release of Arnold & Porter observed, “This team of litigators, including two seasoned trial lawyers, has significant experience representing international companies in major litigation, including several high profile mass tort cases.”
Milch added, “Dameris and his team are a tremendous fit for our firm and our clients. They are outstanding litigators with strong practices that complement work we are already doing in the energy, transportation and defense sectors.”
Dameris brings to the firm more than 25 years experience in handling complex commercial cases and transnational litigation. He has experience of both jury and non-jury trials with special focus on energy and transportation litigation, including product liability and mass torts.
