New Balance Fresh Foam 980 & Palmetto 200 Training Plan

This is a compensated post, however all opinions are my own.

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend! We had book club this weekend, although honestly I didn’t read the book! I ended up hosting, which went in my little studio well since there were only five of us in attendance this month!

I may have mentioned this before, but at the end of March I’ll be joining Amanda, Taylor and Lindsay and the rest of our team in the Palmetto 200. It’s a 200 mile race from Columbia, SC to Charleston, SC and it functions similarly to a Ragnar Race with two vans and each runner being assigned multiple legs of the race.

I kind of invented my own training plan for the race, putting runs back to back during the week to get myself used to running on tired legs. I’m really flexible with my plan though because I really don’t know what to expect out of this training.

And lucky me, I have some fun shoes to wear during my training! When New Balance reached out to me to try their New Balance Fresh Foam 980 shoes, I was a little skeptical. The bottom of the shoe looked SO thick! I wondered if I’d feel like I had bricks when I put them on.

Verdict? SO LIGHT! Seriously, they felt lighter than my previous shoes – it was like walking on clouds! I ran in them Friday and then again yesterday and they feel great, I can’t wait to run in them some more.

New Balance Fresh Foam 980 is launching on February 12th and you can preorder them now. They come in three colors:

I requested the blue and I’m so glad. It’s such a bright, fun color! I’m excited to see how my training goes in these shoes and I’ll be doing a final review of them once I’ve gotten in a few more miles wearing them.

Also, if you’re in the Chicago area you have got to come out to the New Balance Fresh Foam 980 Launch Party!!! Why, you ask? Because I’LL BE THERE!!!! So obviously you’re all going to come, right?

You can check out their Event Page on Facebook or on their website for more information, but it’s on Wednesday, February 12th at Fleet Feet Sports in Old Town. I’ll be co-hosting the party with another blogger and leading a fun run around the neighborhood. I hope to see some of you all there – be sure to say hi!

What are your current running/workout shoes?

Have you ever run a relay race?

Are you training for anything?
