Talent hunting at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, seems to be going on full-scale. Just recently, we posted the news of financial services expert Carol Van Cleef joining Manatt, and today we are onto news about John M. Gatti joining Manatt’s Los Angeles office.
Gatti has joined the Los Angeles office of the law firm as a partner in the Litigation Division and will also serve as co-chair of the firm’s national Entertainment Litigation practice group. Prior to joining Manatt, Gatti was a partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, where he was the chair of the firm’s Entertainment Litigation practice.
Gatti has been listed by the Hollywood Reporter for six consecutive years in its list of “Power Lawyers: Top 100 Influential Attorneys in Entertainment.” He has more than 25 years of experience in commercial litigation representing clients in the sports and entertainment industries including studios, television networks, film financiers, talent, gaming and sports entities. He also represents independent entertainment production companies and other companies involved in entertainment, sports, Internet and gaming industries.
Speaking on Gatti joining the firm, Matt Kanny, chair of Manatt’s national Litigation Division said, “He is a superb litigator and proven leader. Substantively, his focus on entertainment and, in particular, motion pictures and television, complements Manatt’s industry-leading work in this area. John joins an extraordinary team, and I know he and Entertainment Litigation practice co-chair Robert Jacobs will accomplish great things for clients.”
Gatti’s current and past clients include high-profile entities like CBS, Alcon Entertainment, Sony/Columbia Pictures, Fox, Atom Factory, MGM and Alan Ladd, Jr. He has significant first-chair trial experience representing clients before state, federal and bankruptcy courts.
Gatti earned his J.D. and a B.S., magna cum laude, from the University of Southern California. He is currently a board member for the University of Southern California Entertainment Institute, Junior Achievement of Southern California, and the Inner City Law Center.
