Former federal prosecutor Dan Reidy, who was the Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day’s Chicago Office since 2008, has been picked to lead the law firm’s 450-lawyer Business and Tort Litigation (USA) Practice. Reidy was the federal prosecutor in the Operation Greylord judicial corruption investigation in the 1980s.

He succeeds Mickey Pohl who was named the head of the law firm’s Product Liability Practice in 2003 and then became the head of the Business and Tort Litigation Practice when it was founded in 2011. The Business and Tort Litigation Practice group is Jones Day’s largest practice group in the USA.

Pohl is stepping down from his position in accordance with the terms of his Partnership Agreement with the firm, after reaching the age of 65 years. He will continue as a full-time litigation partner.

Speaking on Reidy’s new role, Steve Brogan, Managing Partner of Jones Day said, “Dan Reidy is one of the finest trial lawyers in the country … But more importantly, Dan is a person of enormous integrity and high character who is relied upon by clients to advise what is in their best interest and to vigorously protect them from unfair and arbitrary treatment.”

Reidy has always been known as a fearless lawyer as evinced well in his role in the Greylord judicial corruption project where he personally prosecuted a number of judges, lawyers, and court personnel. He was instrumental in the prosecution of former Chicago Police Commander John Burge, who is now serving time following his perjury conviction regarding allegations of torture.
