Attorney Bill Foster, the outgoing mayor of St. Petersburg, Florida, has joined the Graves Injury Law Group founded by Foster’s lifelong friend Joseph H. Graves. Foster has joined the Vero Beach office of the firm and will focus on the practice areas of injury law, estate planning, real estate and commercial litigation.
Speaking on Foster joining his law firm, founder Joe Graves said, “Bill’s a lifelong friend. We share similar backgrounds and all but identical outlooks on what the practice of law can and should do in and for the lives of the people in our community. Childhood goals really do come true.”
Foster’s mayoral term began in 2010 and his last day in office was on January 2, this year. He faced the toughest throes of the recession, but was able to guide the city forward with success. He helped to create a countywide shelter for the homeless, the Pinellas Safe Harbor, which today is one of the largest such shelters in the state of Florida. Before becoming mayor, Foster had served for 10 years on the St. Petersburg City Council.
He put great focus on fine arts and with his zeal, for three consecutive years, St. Petersburg ranked as the Number One Arts Destination among mid-sized cities by the American Style magazine. Under Foster’s administration, St. Petersburg welcomed the Chihuly Collection and a new $36 million Salvador Dali Museum.
Speaking on his joining the Graves Injury Law Group, Foster said, “Joe has built a thriving law practice by doing the work right and genuinely caring about the people he serves. That mindset has been the foundation of my career as a lawyer and a public servant.” Affirming his commitment to the common man, he said, “I will continue to serve the people of Florida. Whether in Vero Beach, St. Petersburg or any city … I will use my skills to level the playing field for the under resourced.”
Foster did his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University.
