A national law firm has opened a brand new office in Dallas and added Richard Y. Cheng as a shareholder, according to the Dallas Business Journal. The firm, Anderson Kill, is prominent in the insurance recovery industry.
The law firm chose Dallas because of the diverse and growing economy in North Texas, according to Cheng.
“The Texas economy and the landscape of the Texas market is a burgeoning field for multiple industries,” Cheng said. “We’re seeing more and more large Fortune 500 companies moving in to Texas. The projection is that there’s going to be an increasing need for legal services, especially in what Anderson Kill is nationally renowned for, which is insurance recovery work.”
Cheng noted that the firm’s office in Dallas will open with two people, but an expansion is planned.
“Our plan is absolutely to grow the office,” he said. “We’re hopeful that the office will be one of the bigger offices for Anderson Kill, but we don’t have an expectation of a certain number by a certain date.”
The firm has roughly 100 attorneys across six other offices. David P. Bender Jr., the shareholder in the Ventura, California office, is going to split time between Ventura and Dallas.
Cheng was named the 2011 Dallas Business Journal Best Corporate Counsel Rising Star.
