27-year-old Danielle Thomas was a financial analyst for Weight Watchers who was found dead in the bathtub of Jason Bohn’s apartment in 2012, according to the Queens District Attorney. Jason Bohn, an Ivy League lawyer, has now been convicted of first degree murder against his girlfriend. It has been reported by the NY Daily News that Danielle Thomas’s body was found in the tub surrounded by bags of ice.
According to the DA’s office, weeks before her death, Thomas had reported Bohn for an assault that took place a month earlier and told police he’d been sending her threatening emails and text messages. Danielle was issued an order of protection.
Jason Bohn, 35 is an Ivy League-educated lawyer who prosecutors said strangled and brutally beat his financial executive girlfriend, Danielle Thomas to death in their Astoria Queens apartment. According to the NY Post, she died from blunt force trauma to the neck and torso.
The New York Post also reported that Jason Bohn’s defense had argued the Columbia University graduate’s actions were caused by mental illness, and that he suffered from “intermittent explosive disorder” brought on by childhood trauma. Jason Bohn graduated from Columbia University as an undergraduate.
During the testimony, according to News.com.au, Jason Bohn’s ex-girlfriend Jasmine Nieves had broken down in tears while she testified about being choked nearly unconscious during one of their arguments.
DA Richard Brown said in a statement that, “The victim was a young woman who fought for her life until she was overcome by the defendant, and that he has justly been held accountable for his actions and it is likely he will spend the rest of his life in prison.” The guilty verdict comes after seven weeks of trial.
According to Queens district attorney Richard Brown, “The jury bravely listened to harrowing evidence – including a recording of the victim begging for her life as the defendant tortured and ultimately killed her – and correctly returned a verdict of first-degree murder.” In two handwritten notes, Bohn wrote “It was an accident…I am sorry…Dani, I will love you forever.”
