Joseph Basile, the managing partner of Weil, Gotshal & Manges’ Boston managing partner has left to join Foley Hoag LLP

Basile regularly writes and speaks on corporate law issues before organizations such as the American Bar Association, International Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, Harvard Business School Association of Boston, and the New England Corporate Counsel Association.
His practice focuses on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions; joint ventures and strategic alliances; control and minority investments in United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Latin America. He is considered an expert in distressed M&A transactions and financial restructurings.
In addition to transactional work, Basile advises publicly held companies on corporate governance, strategies for engagement with activist shareholders, securities law issues, disclosure and compliance matters.
Basile is a graduate of Stonehill College and Harvard Law School. He is a member of the Massachusetts Business Roundtable executive committee; the Stonehill College Board of Trustees; the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine Advisory Council; and the Joseph W. Martin Jr. Institute for Law and Society Board of Advisers.
