Global Law Firm Leader Mayer Brown Welcomes Edgar Khalatian as New Partner

Leading , Global law firm ” href=”https://www.lawcrossing.com/lawfirmprofile/a9ex9141cf7o70926fbs7517167l9e3c0b6a/The-Mayer-Brown-Practices./” target=”_blank”>Mayer Brown announced Monday, that Edgar Khalatian formerly of Paul Hastings has joined their Los Angeles firm as a partner in its Government & Global Trade group. Mr. Khalatian will represent developers and investors in all forms of real estate transactions. He will be focusing on land use entitlement matters and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance. He will  also assist in the litigation of cases at both the trial and appellate level.

“Edgar is a highly-regarded real estate and land attorney who has established a leading reputation handling high-profile development projects throughout California and we are delighted to welcome him to the firm,” said Phil Recht, partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown’s Los Angeles office. “He will add considerable strength to our existing government and real estate capabilities and greatly benefit both public and private sector clients across numerous industries.”

Mr. Khalatian was appointed by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Michael LoGrande, director of the Los Angeles Department of City Planning, to serve as co-chair of the Los Angeles Zoning Advisory Committee. He serves on the board of directors for the Valley Industry & Commerce Association (VICA) and is chairman of VICA’s Land Use Committee.

Mr. Khalatian earned a JD from Southwestern University School of Law and a BS from California State University, Fullerton. “The cross-sell between Mayer Brown’s world renowned real estate and government relations practices make the firm an ideal fit for the type of work I do-Mayer Brown is one of the only international firms that offers this type of experience,” said Mr. Khalatian. “I’m looking forward to working on high-profile and high-stakes land use issues and litigation that the firm’s clients face on a daily basis.”
