The law firm of Cantey Hanger LLP has added W. Phillip Whitcomb. Whitcomb is a transactional attorney who joins the firm from Shackelford Melton & McKinley. He will work in Cantey’s office in Dallas as a partner, according to a release from the firm.
“Phil has more than 30 years of experience in a transactional practice and will bolster our practice in that area,” said Managing Partner Steve Tatum.
Whitcomb focuses his practice on Mergers and Acquisitions, Business Transactions, Corporate Securities and Private Equity. He represents clients from the industries of renewable energy, oil and gas, real estate and information technology.
Whitcomb’s clients include boards of directors and senior management officials. He has handled such issues as divestitures, corporate development, business plans, acquisitions, alliances, financing and joint ventures.
Whitcomb has worked in multiple corporate development positions and legal positions with Centex Homes and Electronic Data Systems Corporation. Whitcomb also worked as the managing director at JMP Securities.
Whitcomb has undergraduate degrees in both biology and political science. He earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University. While at the Dedman School of Law, Whitcomb served as the managing editor of the Journal of Air Law & Commerce. Whitcomb belongs to the State Bar of Texas and the Urban Land Institute.
