Singapore Telecom and South Korean mobile-phone manufacturer Samsung announced a partnership to promote mobile data growth in emerging markets across the region. SingTel has around 3.9 million customers in Singapore.
President and CEO of Samsung Asia, Moon Soo Kim reported that according to Voice and Data, “As mobile usage grows in the region, Samsung will continue to work hand-in-hand with partners like SingTel to bring more innovative technology and services to consumers in the market.”
The Chief executive of SingTel International, Mark Chong Chin Kok, reported that the members of both the SingTel Group and Samsung were coming together to give the app development a boost.
The collaboration will help differentiate the entities’ services and improve their competitiveness. As part of this partnership, Pratthana Leelapanang, AIS executive vice president for marketing, has reported that according to The Nation Multimedia, this month telecom would launch direct carrier billing to allow its post-paid and pre-paid customers to buy apps and content from Samsung Apps without a credit card.
“The purchase amount will simply be charged to their mobile-phone airtime bills or deducted from their prepaid account balances without any more need to rely on credit cards,” Pratthana Leelapanang said. Members of the SingTel Group and Samsung are collaborating to give the app ecosystem a boost.
CEO Group Consumer, SingTel Group, Paul O’Sullivan said that according to Voice and Data, “Our partnership with Samsung demonstrates SingTel Group’s ability to leverage its combined scale and deliver exclusive offerings to our over half a billion customers across the region.”
