International law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has added shareholder Lori S. Nugent to its Privacy & Data Security and Intellectual Property & Technology practice groups. Nugent will reside in the firm’s Chicago office. She was the chair of Data Security & Cyber Liability at Wilson Elser.
Greenberg Traurig’s Privacy & Data Security practice is comprised of a multidisciplinary group of attorneys and professionals dedicated to developing strategies to address privacy, data security and information management issues.
The firm’s Chicago co-managing shareholder John F. Gibbons said, “We are very pleased to welcome Lori to the firm … Lori’s extensive experience in the areas of privacy and data security will add to our firm’s breadth and will bring value to our clients locally and firm wide.”
Nugent is a renowned practitioner with an extensive experience in the field, and she will continue to focus her practice on data security and cyber liability, as well as punitive damages. She is skilled in managing data breach situations in a manner that protects client brands in the aftermath of a data breach.
She has served as a first responder, addressing hundreds of data security incidents and breaches and has handled a wide variety of other issues related to computer technology, including privacy violations, media liability, cybersecurity preparedness and governance.
Nugent counsels clients on a wide range of matters and works with boards of directors, outside consultants and management teams to develop plans to address a company’s data security and privacy risks. She is also experienced in resolving disputes that stem from data breaches through mediation, negotiation, litigation and arbitration.
Lori Nugent earned her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and her B.A. from Knox College.
