The law firm of Littleton, Joyce, Ughetta, Park & Kelly LLP has announced via a press release that it appointed Carmen J. Cole as its managing partner in the Los Angeles office. Cole has practiced in Los Angeles and Atlanta for McGuire Woods. She became a partner at the firm in January of 2013. Cole is the first African American and first woman to hold the managing partner title of an office for the firm.
“This is an honor, it’s exciting for me,” Cole says. “A lot of firms talk about diversity, but there’s a fundamental difference between simply talking about something and demonstrating real commitment. From the top down, Littleton Joyce is a firm that reflects the diversity of our communities and clients.”
Cole exited a large firm in order to become a leader at a growing litigation practice that has reach nationwide. Cole graduated in 2001 from Pepperdine University School of Law. She is the head of the firm’s Labor & Employment practice group. Cole’s practice focuses on defending employment discrimination lawsuits involving misappropriation, wrongful termination, non-compete agreements and other employment torts.
“This appointment is a reflection of the value and leadership Carmen has shown since joining Littleton Joyce last year,” firm Managing Partner Robert Kelly said. “Our Los Angeles practice continues to expand, with a strong presence in labor and employment, product liability, toxic tort, transportation liability and general business litigation. Carmen has both the legal and leadership skills to oversee our continuing growth.”
