While returning to the United States, Justin Bieber was detained at Los Angeles International Airport by customs agents, according to The Hollywood Life. Bieber was returning from a trip to Japan with his mother, Pattie Mallette, and a couple of friends.
The search was reportedly a ‘secondary customs search,’ but he was released after being held for four hours by immigration. SplashNews reported that Bieber was in good spirits during the incident, cracking smiles and sticking out his tongue.
Reports said that Bieber was being held for his recent issues with law enforcement, not for anything new.
His plane landed at the airport around 1 p.m. PST on April 24.
While being detained, Bieber was being questioned about his pending cases, including his arrest for DUI in Miami and his misdemeanor arrest in Toronto. Bieber receiving the third-degree is procedure due to his heavy criminal record.
Los Angeles attorney Mychal Wilson said, “The 2001 Patriot Act, signed by former President George Bush and extended by current President Barack Obama, gives custom officials the broad authority to flag travelers arriving from a foreign country when they have an active criminal case or a conviction. Presumably, Justin Bieber is on the Homeland Security watch list due to the various pending criminal charges against him.â€
