BakerHostetler announced on Monday that Intellectual Property Partner Farah Bhatti has joined the Costa Mesa, CA, office of the law firm as a resident partner in the Trademark team of the law firm’s Intellectual Property group. Bhatti previously worked in Buchalter Nemer .
Bhatti was previously a trademark examining attorney at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where she examined more than 2,000 trademark applications and represented the USPTO before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). She has fluent language skills in Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu and is a frequent presenter on the topic of trademark protection, especially at events geared toward the fashion industry.
“Farah is a great addition to the Intellectual Property Group,” said John Weber, national chair of BakerHostetler’s Intellectual Property Group. “Her global portfolio management skills will be a great asset to our clients in the U.S. and abroad.”
Bhatti focuses her practice on all aspects of trademark prosecution, including advising, counseling, and securing trademark protection for clients, with an emphasis on the worldwide selection and enforcement of trademarks, and the enforcement of Internet and domain names. She works closely with clients in formulating their domestic and international trademark protection and registration strategies. Bhatti has managed portfolios for consumer electronics clients, machine tool manufacturers, software and hardware companies, chemicals clients, and apparel companies, among other industries.

Bhatti earned her J.D. at St. John’s University School of Law in 1997, her LLM at the University of Houston Law Center in 1998, and her B.A. at the State University of New York-Albany in 1994. She is a member of the International Trademark Association and on the board of directors for Fashion Business Incorporated.
