Online LL.M. programs are becoming more popular these days as people want to specialize in specific areas of the law, but want to do so on their own time. More and more law schools are offering LL.M. programs online, but not all of them offer the most popular specialty areas. We have compiled a list of the top online LL.M. programs in the country.
Thomas Jefferson School of Law:
The Thomas Jefferson School of Law is located in California, but students can earn an LL.M. in just one year. This program is only open to students who have already earned their J.D. and is for International Tax and Financial Services. According to the school’s page, the LSAT is not required to enroll in this course. There are five concentrations for the LL.M.: United States Taxation, International Taxation, Compliance & Risk Management, Financial Services & Wealth Management and Bankruptcy & Restructuring.
Vermont Law School:
The Vermont Law School offers a masters of law online in environmental law. Students must have a J.D. already, but want to specialize in the environmental law sector. The school also offers an LL.M. in Energy Law and American Legal Studies. The American Legal Studies program is for students who have earned a J.D. from a law school outside of the United States and wish to learn the legal system in the country.
John Marshall Law School:
The John Marshall Law School, in Atlanta, offers students an online LL.M. in American Legal Studies. The program is a global forum for students who want to learn about legal studies in the country. This program takes four semesters to complete, which is roughly 16 months, and is for 24 credits.
Florida Coastal School of Law:
The Florida Coastal School of Law offers students an online LL.M. in U.S. law. The online classes provide students with the chance to interact with lawyers from around the country while studying on their own time. The curriculum includes Constitutional Law, Contracts & Sales and Evidence.
