The law firm of Taylor Wessing announced on Monday that it will open two offices in the United States, according to a press release. The offices will be opened in New York and Palo Alto and will open in September.
The law firm is known for its work in the mergers & acquisitions industry and inward investment. It has performed work in the United States, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. The firm also has experience with technology and IP work.
The firm said in the press release that it will not practice United States law, but instead use the new locations to help clients grow through acquisition in the United States economy.
Moving to the Palo Alto office from London is Mark Barron, who works in corporate technology; Dr. Kai Westerwelle, who is in the Frankfurt office; and Dennis Tan, who comes from the Singapore office of the firm. Westerwelle has a technology and data protection practice while Tan has a corporate technology practice.
According to the release, Barron said, “European expansion has long been a part of the growth strategy for successful US businesses, and now we are seeing a growing triangulation between the US, Europe – notably London, Berlin and Paris – and Singapore for tech innovation and investment in particular, with Singapore attracting an increasing level of US investment, especially from businesses on the West Coast. In addition, US businesses have undertaken considerable investment into the CEE region. As such, our US offices, combined with our long-standing presence in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, mean we are now perfectly placed to advise US businesses on the best way to approach their international expansion, help them navigate all the practical challenges that presents, and provide the full range of services to enable them to continue to grow once they’re there.”
