The law firm of Barnes & Thornburg LLP announced via a press release that Benjamin W. Johnson joined the office in Minneapolis as a member of the Governmental Services & Finance Department as a partner. Johnson previously worked as a shareholder at Kennedy & Graven, Chartered. He worked in the Public Finance group.
Johnson has a practice that focuses on municipal finance, including counties, cities, banks and underwriters.
In the release, Peter Ekberg, the managing partner of the firm’s Minneapolis office, said: “Ben is a highly regarded attorney who has built a great reputation statewide as an experienced counselor in the bond finance arena. His deep knowledge of local government law and strong background in the tax analysis and structuring of municipal bond transactions will be a tremendous asset to our clients as we continue to grow our capabilities in Minneapolis and nationally.”
Johnson can practice in Minnesota and Montana. He belongs to the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Hennepin County Bar Association and the Montana Bar Association. He earned his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Montana State University.
