It was announced via a press release by DLA Piper that the firm has added Peter F. McLaughlin to its office in Boston as of counsel in the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice. McLaughlin comes to the firm from Morrison & Foerster.
McLaughlin represents clients in the United States and on the international levels with personal information matters including data transfers, privacy and security of health data and new technologies.
McLaughlin helps clients respond to regulators from the Federal Trade Commission, with customer and patient data, and supports post-enforcement compliance obligations. He also helps clients follow the rules of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
McLaughlin worked as the Assistant General Counsel, in Privacy & Security, for Cardinal Health, Inc before he returned to private practice. He also served as the global privacy director for the company.
McLaughlin is active with the American Bar Association and is the co-chair of the Science & Technology Section’s Information Security Committee. He previously was the co-chair of the Business Law Section’s Privacy, Security & Data Management subcommittee. McLaughlin is on the advisory board of the Georgetown University Law Center’s Corporate Counsel Institute. McLaughlin is an active member of the American Health Lawyers Association, according to the release from the firm.
