Blank Rome LLP announced via a press release that Ana Tagvoryan and Joshua Briones have joined the firm’s Corporate Litigation practice. The new additions have experience with consumer class action defense and will work in the Los Angeles office of the firm.
Alan J. Hoffman, the chair and managing partner of the firm, said in the release, “We are thrilled to welcome Joshua and Ana to Blank Rome. Class action lawsuits are on the rise in any industry that collects consumer data, from call recording matters to data breach suits. Over the past year, we have seen a significant rise in plaintiffs’ counsel filing class actions across the country that allege violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Joshua and Ana’s deep knowledge and experience in this area will further strengthen our litigation capabilities in defending clients against such actions.”
Both left the litigation group of DLA Piper to join Blank Rome. Both lawyers have extensive experience handling cases involving social media issues in the law and e-discovery.
Gregory M. Bordo, the managing partner for the Los Angeles office, said, “As our Los Angeles office continues its exciting expansion, we are pleased to welcome Joshua and Ana to the growing team. There is a great strategic fit for them at Blank Rome, particularly as our financial services industry team is seeing heightened concern among its clients regarding compliance and liability in consumer data and online marketing. And their collective litigation experience lends an important dimension to our cybersecurity and data privacy practice. We are excited for them to ramp up and engage with our clients and our global platform in these key, emerging areas.”
Tagvoryan earned her law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law and her BA from Loyola Marymount University.
“Blank Rome has been expanding in many exciting ways,” noted Ms. Tagvoryan. “Consumer class action defense is a key area for development and we’re eager to play an important role in the litigation practice’s growth. Beyond litigation, I am very impressed with the Firm’s pro bono initiatives and commitment to diversity, particularly with respect to women lawyers, and look forward to participating in these important endeavors as well.”
Briones earned his LL.M. from New York University School of Law, his J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law and his BA from San Diego State University.
Briones said, “Blank Rome is an established Firm with a strong litigation platform that lends itself to entrepreneurial opportunities. We look forward to building a robust, progressive practice along with our new, distinguished colleagues.”
