The law firm of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP has announced via a press release that it opened an office in Houston. It will be led by David Gerger, a white collar criminal trial lawyer. Gerger comes to the firm from Gerger & Clarke, which is a boutique firm he founded that focused on litigation.
Gerger will be the managing partner of the office in Houston. Shaun Clarke will work in the office as Special Counsel and Co-Chair of the white collar group in Houston. Dane Ball, David Isaak and Sammy Khalil will also join the firm as Of Counsels.
The firm’s managing partner, John Quinn, said the following in the release: “Houston is a booming market. As an international litigation firm we felt we needed a presence there. However, we wanted to make sure we had the right focus and the right people. We found that in David and his team.”
The chair of the firm’s white collar group in Washington, William A. Burck, said, “David has earned his place among the elite white collar specialists in the country. We think there will be tremendous synergies between our firms.”
Gerger added the following: “I was perfectly happy with my litigation boutique. However, when Quinn Emanuel approached me, it instantly made sense. We will continue to serve our clients as we always have, but now with the incredible resources and range of Quinn Emanuel.”
Gerger earned his law degree from the University of Texas Law School. Gerger was a clerk for Judge Jerre Williams on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and District Judge Harry Lee Hudspeth from the Western District of Texas. Gerger also worked as a Federal Public Defender.
Clarke earned his law degree from Yale Law School and clerked for District Court Judge Lowell Jensen from the Northern District of California.
