An attorney from Appleton, Wisconsin has been convicted of sexually assaulting and strangling his wife. He has to spend at least 30 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release, according to Fox11.
The attorney, David Dudas, was sentenced on Wednesday in Outagamie County Court. He was convicted on April 30 of the charges filed against him, which totaled 31.
Dudas’ wife, Jill, was found bloodied and bruised in their Town of Dale home by their sons.
Judge Tammy Jo Hock was told the following by Jill Dudas: “I loved him with all of me – he buried all of me. Because of this monster, the scars on my face, my body and on my soul will live forever. Our lives are forever altered.”
David Dudas was convicted of beating, raping and strangling his wife earlier this year.
“I’m going to end with this statement, my father once said ‘my sons are better than me,’ and he was absolutely right,” said David Dudas, the oldest son of the couple.
According to court documents, the assaults occurred for more than a year and David Dudas recorded some of them.
“She wanted people to know this wasn’t just once,” said Outagamie County District Attorney Carrie Schneider. “And she wanted them to know how hard it was; even with all the humiliation and embarrassment, she wanted them to know, everyone to hear her voice and for the defendant to be held accountable.”
David Dudas declined an offer to speak in court.
“This type of behavior is something that cannot be tolerated in our community,” said Hock.
Dudas’ law license has been suspended by the state Supreme Court.
