It was announced via a press release that DLA Piper will welcome Mark Roppel to its Corporate and Finance practice in New York. Roppel will work as a partner.
Roppel comes to the firm with more than 25 years in the field handling cross-border transactions in Europe, Asia, the Americas and China. He also practiced for six years in China. Has has experience with mergers and acquisitions, tender offers, stock mergers, private stock and asset purchases, public offerings, leveraged acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings, strategic alliances and private placements.
Roger Meltzer is the co-chair of the Americas and global chair of the firm’s Corporate and Finance practice. Meltzer said the following in the release about Roppel:
“In addition to his extensive US public company M&A experience, Mark has an extraordinary background in and familiarity with the Asian market. He is a leader and extremely talented lawyer whose skills and experience with intricate cross-border issues will help enhance our global transactional practice.”
Heidi Levine is the co-managing partner of the firm’s office in New York. Levine said:
“Mark’s diverse and considerable background will make him an integral component of our Corporate practice in New York and the ideal complement to our global platform. We very much look forward to his contributions.”
Roppel comes to DLA Piper from Allen & Overy. He worked there as a corporate partner. Prior to Allen & Overy, Roppel worked for Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in Beijing. He has worked as a mergers and acquisitions attorney at Shearman & Sterling in New York. Roppel earned his LL.B./B.C.L. from McGill University Faculty of Law and his LL.M. from Columbia Law School.
