Tulane University Law School received the 2014 Law Student Environment, Energy and Resources Program of the Year award from the American Bar Association, according to The Times-Picayune.
The award is handed out annually to a student-organized educational program or public service project. The program or project must have a focus on natural resources or energy law.
The award will be presented to Tulane’s law school on August 10 at the annual meeting for the ABA in Boston.
The award has been given to the Tulane Law School’s 18th Annual Summit on Environmental Law and Policy. This event occurred from March 22-23, 2013. It is a national event run by students. It is a nonprofit event that features scientists, lawyers, students, community activists and other officials to talk about environmental problems.
More than 1,000 attendees were at the 18th annual event. They saw 23 panels and the event had a budget of $40,500.

Just four years ago, Senator Robert Adley, from Benton, created a bill that would shut down the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic. He created the bill on the behalf of the Louisiana Chemical Association.
The school’s clinic provides students with the opportunity to represent clients and to expand their access to the legal system.
Adley’s bill was rejected by the State Commerce Committee in May of 2010.
