United States District Judge Mark Fuller, from Montgomery, Alabama, spent a night in jail after being charged with misdemeanor battery in a reported dispute with his wife, according to CNN. Fuller spent the night in an Atlanta jail after the domestic violence incident.
Fuller was charged with battery physical harm-family violence following the response by police to the Ritz-Carlton hotel in downtown Atlanta prior to 11p.m. on Saturday.
“Officers spoke to the victim, who stated she was assaulted by her husband, Mark Fuller,” an Atlanta Police Department release says. “Officers observed injuries to the victim. She was treated on scene by (paramedics) but refused to be transported to the hospital. Mr. Fuller was not injured.”
Fuller made an appearance in front of Chief Magistrate Judge Stephanie Davis using a video conference from Fulton County Jail yesterday morning. This information was released by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan.
Fuller is scheduled to appear in court again on August 22. This hearing will be for probable cause, according to Flanagan. Fuller did not enter a plea on Monday since the hearing was for bond.
Fuller was granted a $5,000 signature bond by Davis. He left jail by noon Monday. Fuller was named to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama in 2002.
