Mayer Brown JSM announced on Thursday that senior consultant Ian Chapman, a former partner, will now be co-located in the firm’s Bangkok and Hong Kong offices to further strengthen Mayer Brown’s Southeast Asian Restructuring Bankruptcy and Insolvency practice (RBI).
Recent high profile matters on which Mayer Brown JSM’s international RBI team has been engaged on include:
- advising Vinashin (Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group) in its precedent-making USD4 billion 3 year restructuring;
- advising KPMG as liquidators of the Hong Kong Lehman Brothers entities in the global settlement and recovery processes including most recently settlement of over USD20 billion of intra-Lehman Brothers Group claims;
- advising Standard Chartered Bank (Thailand) on the approximately USD1 billion court based rehabilitation of Canadoil Thailand.
