Summary: When an Illinois trucker was pulled over for honking his horn at a state trooper who was speeding and using his cell phone, the trucker recorded the exchange between himself and the trooper.
In a video titled “Cop Lies his A** Off,” an Illinois trucker shows the exchange that occurred after the trucker honked his horn at the cop who allegedly passed him, exceeding the 70 miles-per-hour speed limit while using his cell phone.
The state trooper explained that the police are allowed to use technology while they are driving. “So you’re above the law?” the trucker says incredulously. After a minute or so, the trucker tells the trooper that he is being recorded. The trooper says, “So you honked at me because you believe I was speeding?” The trucker says the roads were wet, that the trooper was going over 70 miles an hour, and that the trooper was using his cell phone—all of which the trucker says was “reckless driving” on behalf of the trooper.
The trooper then asks the trucker how his hours are, and the trucker says he’s got three and a half hours left for the day. The trooper leaves the truck briefly and returns to his squad car. Upon his return, the trooper states that he did not give the trucker a ticket because he did not “want to hurt his record” since the trucker had recently received a headlight violation. The trooper admits that he wasn’t paying attention to his speeding, and that he understood the trucker was trying to help him out. The trooper admits that it was not okay for him to be using his phone, but that he did not remember using it. The two then part ways. Satisfied, the trucker says, “And that’s what happened when they know you’re recording.”
