DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Karl Buch has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in its litigation practice.
Karl H. Buch joins the firm from Pfizer, where he served as Assistant General Counsel. His practice focused on international investigations as well as internal and government matters. Buch also spent a significant amount of time in Asia during his career at Pfizer. Before joining Pfizer, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in New Jersey.
Patrick Smith, co-chair of DLA Piper’s White Collar, Corporate Crime and Investigations Practice, said, “Karl’s background as a former government prosecutor, in addition to his corporate background, will significantly complement the firm’s global footprint. He will be a great asset for our clients, especially those that do business in Asia, particularly in China.”
Richard Hans, who serves as co-managing partner of DLA Piper’s New York office, as well as the chair of the litigation practice, was also looking forward to Buch’s joining the firm: “In addition to his experiences in the life sciences sector, Karl has broad skills across multiple industry sectors. We are pleased to welcome him to the firm.”
Before joining Pfizer, Buch was of counsel at Chadbourne & Parke. Buch earned his law degree at Rutgers University School of Law and clerked for the Honorable John E. Sprizzo of the Southern District of New York.
DLA Piper has added several attorneys to the New York office recently. Litigators Savaria Harris and Seth Friedman were recently hired, as well as corporate partner Mark Roppel. The firm’s U.S. practice has also added several new partners, including Kevin Finger, Bevin Brennan, and Jeff Torosian in the Chicago office, Karl Dial in Dallas, and Jonathan Haray in the Washington, D.C. branch of the firm.
