Summary: A teenage boy is facing two years in prison for posing inappropriately with a statue of Jesus and posting photos of the pose on the Internet. The prosecutor assigned to the case has stated the boy’s actions were offensive and has vowed to prosecute him fully. However, the prosecutor has committed a few wrongs himself.
Teenage boys are known for their crude senses of humor, but one teen is facing two years in prison after he stood in front of a Jesus statue and posed as if receiving oral sex from the statue. The boy thought it would be hilarious to take pictures and, of course, post them to the Internet for the world to see.
Patheos.com reports that the fourteen-year-old from Pennsylvania would be facing less time if he had actually vandalized or destroyed the statue. For whatever reason, the state laws dictate a harsher punishment for gesturing near the statue.
Bedford County District Attorney Bill Higgins is showing no mercy in his pursuit to fully prosecute the kid. He views the photos as offensive. However, it appears that Mr. Higgins has acted a bit sinfully himself.
Last month, Mr. Higgins tweeted that he liked a YouTube video from the Howard Stern radio show. Mr. Stern is known for his love of all things outrageous and perverted, and this episode was no different. Porn star Nick Manning was a guest, and the hot topic was Mr. Manning’s ejaculation habits.
Although Higgins enjoyed hearing about a porn star’s sex life, and even told the world that about it, he posted online a few days ago about the teen defendant involved in the statue case: “…this troubled young man offended the sensibilities and morals of OUR community…His actions constitute a violation of the law, and he will be prosecuted accordingly. If that tends to upset the ‘anti-Christian, ban-school-prayer, war-on-Christmas, oppose-display-of-Ten-Commandments’ crowd, I make no apologies.”
In addition to enjoying learning about the lives and sexual habits of porn stars, it appears that Higgins also had an affair in his courtroom office a few years back. After a Bedford County Republicans meeting, Higgins said that the woman drove to his office to meet him, and they had consensual sex. However, the woman later filed a private criminal complaint against Higgins for sexual assault. The charges were later dropped. Higgins also served as vice chairman of the county GOP at the time of the rendezvous.
However, for whatever reason, Higgins is relentless in the case against the teenage boy who just made a bad decision. The ACLU has stepped up to look into the story, and many hope that the organization will be able to defend the teen against these charges.
