Summary: There are in-house corporate job positions available in Albany, New York.
Corporate attorneys are employed by businesses and organizations to assist these entities with daily activities and decisions. It’s not uncommon for corporate attorneys to negotiate multi-million dollar deals and mergers and acquisitions. Other attorneys may assist small companies. However, all corporate attorneys must be able to advise clients, whether big or small, about their legal rights and responsibilities.
Many corporate attorneys work in private practice and provide legal advice to clients as they participate in business transactions. The attorneys draft, negotiate, and carry out contracts, advise the company on corporate governance issues, and assist clients with the mandatory disclosure of financial information to owners and shareholders. Other attorneys work in a corporation in-house corporate counsel and serve as internal advisers to the company.
As stated, the practice widely varies depending on the size of the company. Another factor is whether the company is publicly or privately held. Publicly held companies have shares of stock that are traded by the public, such as on the New York Stock Exchange. Privately held businesses do not have public stock, and are owned by a limited number of shareholders. Attorneys must understand the differences between these types of organizations and the different challenges each can face.
