Alan J. Hoffman, the Chairman and Managing Partner of the firm, said the following in the release:
“Hatch-Waxman Paragraph IV litigation has increased significantly in New Jersey. Gary’s broad experience as a litigator and deep understanding of the generic pharmaceuticals industry will enhance our life sciences practice and enable us to leverage this trend and better serve clients in the life science and healthcare sectors. We are pleased to welcome him to the Firm.”

Ruckelshaus said, “I was drawn to Blank Rome for the opportunity to further expand the Firm’s life sciences practice with a special focus on Hatch-Waxman Paragraph IV litigation. With the New Jersey District Court’s adoption of local rules that apply to all patent cases, New Jersey has become a favorable venue for such cases. Generic pharmaceutical companies have been more active in developing products, and are also becoming more aggressive in identifying patents that are vulnerable to an invalidity position. We will see a significant uptick in litigation as branded companies seek to defend their brands. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to build my practice in this regard at Blank Rome.”
Ruckelshaus worked as a partner with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
He earned his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law and his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Rhode Island.
